Coupon Shopping

Once we got back from our trip, I started looking at blogs that had coupon ideas to get creative for grocery shopping. I thought, what an easy way to save money.

Jonathan and I venture out to Publix and Piggly Wiggly after I spent about an hour making my list, clipping coupons and comparing the grocery sales papers. I was as organized as a pretty much first time serious coupon shopper can be.

Publix is having a big bogo week, which bogo is the first coupon term I learned. Several things that were buy one get one free, I still had a coupon for! Best buy from this store was a big bag of streamfresh vegetables that go for $2.39 and I got them for $.81. Also, I got two big big tubes of Colgate toothpaste for $2.25. That would have been the cost of one Crest at Wal-mart.

What is the final total of my Publix picture below?...

$24.73 with a total savings of $23.53. I've never gotten 50% of all my grocery bill before. How fun!

This shopping really got my energized and probably the most boring time Jonathan has ever had.

We venture to the new Piggly Wiggly for their grand opening. I have the shopping paper in hand and my wonderful list.

The savings were more 2 for a certain amount that was still less than Wal-mart or other stores. Most of the food we bought was milk and "serious" food like ground beef. The bill was about double...$45.69, but I walked out of there with more for that money than I probably would have blindly shopping at Wal-mart. What did I buy?...

It is enough food to make several meals, which is much cheaper than eating out. I'm very new at this, so please give me any suggestions on what to look for.

I think we are going to Winn Dixie tomorrow, and I have a few deals picked out for that one :)

Good night from the soon to be coupon queen.

Back from the Land Down Under

Jonathan and I were blessed to spend two weeks traveling in Australia and New Zealand. The countries there are magnificent and absolutely breath taking.

This picture shows the #1 thing I had to do on our trip. Koalas are the best animal in the world in my opinion. Very soft as well.

The places we traveled were (in order) and the highlights:
  • Sydney, Australia - opera house tour and Tarongo Zoo
  • Queenstown, NZ - Milford Sound and Jet Boat tour
  • Lake Wanaka, NZ - Puzzling World
  • Christchurch, NZ - Wildlife Zoo
  • Brisbane, Australia - Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin's place) and holding the koala!
  • Hamilton Island, Australia - snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef

There were many things that I missed about America, but I did love our time overseas. Hopefully there is more international travel in the future for us. We arrived back in Birmingham last night at 9, and went to work today. Hopefully this prevents the jet lag from setting in, but I'm really starting to get sleepy now.

Today's highlight is my hubby turning 25!

Tomorrow night...a girl's night; even though we don't have plans yet :)

More pictures to come and hopefully I will become a faithful blogger as part of becoming more wifey and domesticated.
